Doctor Honoris Causa in Music awarded in 2022 by the World Organization of human rights defenders, in November 2024, he received the highest award from the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro, the Tiradentes Medal. He has a Bachelor's degree in Conducting and a Master's degree from UFRJ, - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where he was a substitute professor for 4 years; he took extension courses in Conducting in England at the Ernest Read Music Association (ERMA) with Noel Long and Andrew Charity.
His main Regency teacher in Brazil was Roberto Duarte, whose assistant he was for 9 years.
He has acted as guest conductor in several orchestras, in Brazil and abroad, producing works for the first time worldwide, and on several occasions leading entire programs by Brazilian composers with foreign orchestras, among them Francisco Mignone, Cláudio Santoro, Amaral Vieira, Alberto Nepomuceno, Osvaldo Lacerda, Villa-Lobos and many others.
He has conducted orchestras in France, England, Germany, the United States, Paraguay, Egypt and Armenia.
He was the Founder and Chief Conductor of the Rio Camerata Orchestra (www.orc.art.br) since 1986, and since 2019 he has been Chief Conductor of the Cascavel Chamber Orchestra in Paraná.
He has been a member of the Jury of several national and international competitions, including Jeunesses Musicales in Bucharest, Romania.
In July 2011 he was Laureate in São Paulo by the Brazilian Association of Arts, Culture and Education - SBACE - with the “Commendation Carlos Gomes” and in February 2016 promoted to International Chancellor. On February 28th 2018 ,he took office as vice- president of this institution. Elected in 2015 Effective member of the Brazilian Luminescence Academy, in Araraquara, São Paulo, occupies chair 97.
In April 2018 he received from the “World Organization of Human Rights Defenders”, the International Diplomat Ruy Barbosa commendation, the “Eagle of The Hague” and the title of “Ambassador of Peace”.
For 8 years he was a Professor of Conducting and Conductor of the Orchestra of the University Center of the Brazilian Conservatory of Music.
In 2021 he was named by K-Classic International in Korea the title of Honorary Conductor.
